The Language of the Soul: An Introduction to Jewish Prayer 

with Rabbinic Intern Maya Zinkow

Are you yearning to understand the structure of the service and explore its meaning?  If so this course is for you. We'll delve into the structure of the prayer service as well as the meanings of essential Jewish prayers. Together we will consider what it means to pray. Is it a conversation with God, with transcendence, with your own soul? Is it a time to consider what is eternal and immutable? Join us as we explore Jewish prayer through text, song and soulful study. All are welcome. 

This class will meet on six Wednesday evenings at 6:30-8:00 PM EST, on the following dates:
Apr: 7, 14, 21, 28
May: 5, 12, 19, 26

All classes will meet via Zoom. Zoom link provided upon registration.

Class Fee:
$160 for the general public

DIgital Supporters - 10% off

About the Teacher:
Joseph S. Ingber Rabbinic Intern, Maya Zinkow
Maya Zinkow is a fifth year rabbinical student at JTS, where she studies as a Wexner Graduate Fellow. She is pursuing a master’s degree in Jewish Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, and is passionate about studying and teaching our sacred texts and traditions with the guidance of feminist thought and criticism. In addition to her work with Romemu, Maya serves the Conservative community as the Columbia/Barnard Hillel as a rabbinic intern. A midwest native, she is a lover of lakes and camp. Find Maya singing niggunim, improving her Yiddish, or reading her Book of the Month. She is eager to get to know you and offer spiritual support to this special community!
