Reconnecting to "All of Existence": What does it mean to make Collective Teshuvah?

With Rabbi Dianne Cohler-Esses

Tuesday Nights | 7:00-8:30
September 1, September 8, September 15

On Yom Kippur we join our voices together in community, confessing our sins using the word "we" saying:  "We have trespassed; we have betrayed; we have stolen…...".  Through the use of the word “we” the rabbis are pointing each of us towards something crucial in the teshuvah process: we-- ness,  understanding our place as an inextricable part of a whole. As our world undergoes profound shifts it is crucial that we ask: What does collective teshuvah really mean? In these four-sessions, we will take on the ambitious goal of transforming our self understanding-- moving our self-understanding from privileging “I”,  to embodying the truth of  “we”, a truth our ancestors exemplified. Classes will include group text study, study in small groups, discussion, and writing exercises.
